Last year Emmet, the travel monkey belonging to Maureen Wilson, and Tullulah, Ms Pamela's monkey child were betrothed, and it was about time too. They had a mess of little ones already, Tulula had proven quite fertile so we all felt that the wedding should proceed with haste. So it was that the dress was made, the arbor set with fruit and flowers, the cake created and the guest also. There were about fifty in all. Wonderful creatures created by doll makers all over. I sang the wedding march, "I Went to the Animal Fair", it was torturous but everyone was polite and sat through it. We had a marvelous time.

The day before the conference Barbara Willis, Sally Lampi and Patti Culea presented the first of The Queen's Closet. We had an audience of about fifty. We introduced four very different concepts. Barbara had her delicate beauty, Patti had her charming, colorful, queen and art pholio, Sally had her witty closeted fairies, and I had my old crone. We marveled that we could love eachother and eachother's work and still be so different and celebrate that difference.
I love going to the EDAC Conference. I sit in my "Spontaneous Combustion" room next to Ms. Pamela's Treasures of the Gypsy and fool around with what ever is there. Boxes of fabric, rubber stamps, beads, lace and trim spill over and I do what I can. This time I did pages for Betty Frasier. She and five others and I are passing books about and exchanging pages. So I did her signature page and sent her home with it. I also made a GYPSY banner for Ms Pamela. So here is some of what we did:
Making a flat doll from a three dimentional one. The Bead Merchant
Well I have finished the doll for the cruise with Patti Culea, Barbara Will and Gail Wilson. Patti never lets up so you're not likely to let her sit on the back burner forever. It was my idea to use a doll of Gail's design to play off of/ As usual when I have part in making the rules I break them all. I am not colonial, have you noticed, so I had to move the time line up, but she does have hands and feet. Sorry Gail will have to look elsewhere for competition. I am stuck with being elinor.
Isn't he the cutest little elf.
? And that is his Daddy George Bailey and his mama Christina.
Of course we went shopping and I found a tiny Bernina store.
No English spoken here, but they have some great old machines, and the usual stuff.
We also went to a Hobby shop and got some fabulous yarns because Christina makes afghans, like this one for her sister.
She has started one for me and it is the cat's wiskers!!! We took a pattern of rectangle granny squares and played with them. She crochets each block with three differest textures as well as colors.
Boy that girl is wicked fast. We saw castles and cathedrals, shops and flowers, friut and vegetables. And we walked and walked.
The waether was gorgeous, not unlike Vancouver. We ate incredible deserts, divine cheeses and crunchy breads. We argued, commiserated, and spoke sacred things. I met their marvelous friends, amd went to church.
This is the Farmer's Market. We got to a flea market as well but it wasn't really exciting, sort of like a garage sale.
Have been to Bellingham Washington, The Sewer's Dream owned by The Peggy Schaffer of Olfa cutters, rulers, matts etc., and Fuzz in Boise. Her we are doing wild and wonderful things.
Here we are bending paper cut outs. I wand to do this in metal or something that can't be crushed. No what I really mean is I want you to do it in metal. I love giving assignments.
Now this is face painting on canvas.
And this is a delightfully bright Monique.
Now for the truley great adventure. The Crazy Grandmother goes to germany. Off to Frankfert on the first of July. Heaven knows when I got there but it was daylight and the kids were there to meet me. There was the boy child Joe and George and Christina.
I just went al the way through my recent post and saw that I already told you afout Nebraska. What I didn't tell you about was St Louis. I went to visit Laura Gunn, author of Paint In My Hair, and my daughter. She was making her statement in a home for battered women, where they live for a year and get training to deal with the out
side world. Like we all need that. So here is some of her wall art:
Of course that wasn't all there was to see. There was the amazing Uke and Lilt duo. Are they not simply wonderful?
